PtL fuels from renewable energy are the most important climate-friendly alternative to fossil-based kerosene in aviation.

For Germany to achieve climate neutrality by 2045, the aviation sector must do it part. PtL fuels from renewable energy are the most important climate-friendly alternative to fossil-based kerosene in aviation. Now that the right conditions have been created, electricity-based liquid aviation fuels are now finding their way out of the laboratory and onto the market.

It is better to avoid CO2 than to offset it. The new facility is showing energy companies and airlines what can be achieved without government subsidies.

Green air travel

CO2-neutral fuel is just one step on the path to green air travel

Flying contributes to anthropogenic climate change in various ways. In addition to CO2, global warming is intensified in particular by the formation of ozone, cirrostratus clouds and contrails. e-kerosene reduces these effects and can also serve as a long-term solution to reaching the Paris climate targets for the aviation sector by changing flight routes. But until this can be achieved, it is better for the climate to fly less, even with e-kerosene.
